RESEARCH BACKGROUND

1. Packet Classification: improve existing packet classification schemes by
1. Introduce statistical characteristics of network traffic flows as heuristic information for particular networks.
2. Proposed a decision tree based algorithm to effectively reduce the memory usage by exploiting information theory and a novel space dividing/aggregating scheme.
2. Network Processor Programming (Intel IXP 2xxx)
1. To reach multi-Gbps policy enforcement and intrusion detection performance, IXP NPUs along with innovative algorithms should be able to break the bottleneck and thus makes the technology broadly available for the industry.
3. Pattern Recognition
1. Fingerprint Reconstruction: Use a simplified Condensation algorithm to reconstruct poor quality fingerprint images.
2. Face detection: adopt a novel EM algorithm to learn the distribution of sample faces and improve the detection accuracy.
